Skip to main content Acoustical Wall Panels. I was looking for a low cost solution for some room re-verb in my voice only studio and found these acoustic panels. At only one inch thick i new they would only be good for mid and high tones only, this was fine for a voice recording only studio!

I also did not want to glue them to my wall, like many others do, only to find out i destroyed my walls should a time come when i had to remove them. So, i decided to frame them along with a sound absorbing ceiling tile for backing and hang them around my studio like picture frames. Now i can move them anywhere i want to at any time and not destroy my walls. Over all, these acoustic panels worked very well for my application and work fantastic for a quality voice recording! Soundproof Other Areas.Acoustical gypsum board is for any application that requires enhanced soundproofing and sound control. Whether protecting an inside room from an outside noise, or noiseproofing an inside space, acoustic drywall is for wall assemblies and spaces requiring high sound transmission class STC performance. STC is a measure of how well a wall or building partition reduces sound from traveling through the building.

STC is the standard of measure in the US for how well a buildings' interior walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, and exterior walls reduce sound from traveling. Outside the US there are various standards of measure to achieve the same rating. What is apparent sound transmission class ASTC?

ASTC includes the contributions from flanking transmission of sound and therefore is a better descriptor of the acoustic performance of the building. Excellent for windows, doors and openings. This innovative gypsum purple board drywall allows for construction of high STC wall assemblies that are thinner, cost effective and more reliable than traditional methods for constructing these types of assemblies.

Increasing land costs have resulted in larger amounts of high density multi-family housing in a growing number of United States housing markets.

The result of high density housing is individual living units positioned closer together than traditional single-family housing. Home theater systems are becoming more prevalent in use and sophistication, resulting in the potential for more noise being transmitted between wall partitions.

Commercial buildings such as schools, hospitals and hotels also have an increasing need to control sound between areas of a building.

How To Make Your Home Studio Sound Amazing With A Low Budget

All of these changing market dynamics have resulted in an increased need for higher rated Sound Transmission Class STC wall partitions, which reduce the transmission of airborne sound between living spaces within buildings. The goal of a high rated STC wall partition is to decrease the amount of sound transmission through the partition. The following five variables can have impact on the ability of the partition to provide this loss. Increasing the mass of a wall partition increases the amount of sound transmission loss.

Increasing mass in a cost and space effective way can be a challenge. Increasing the stiffness of a wall partition will decrease the amount of sound transmission loss. Introduction of damping will increase the amount of sound transmission loss. In particular, constrained layer damping can be effective for structure type applications. Increasing the depth of the cavity of the partition can increase the amount of sound transmission loss, especially when the cavity is filled with acoustical insulation.

Adding sound-absorbing material such as fiberglass or mineral fiber insulation to the cavity of a partition will increase the amount of sound transmission loss. The sound-absorbing material should completely fill the cavity but not be compacted or compressed in any way. Print Page. Product TAG.
